Police announce road closures, traffic diversions for Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium
The affected roads include: the Aerodrome/Wakiihuri Road, which will be closed, and the Nairobi Expressway will also be closed in both directions between the Capital Centre and Bunyala roundabout.
The National Police Service (NPS) has announced temporary road closures and traffic diversions from 7:00 am tomorrow to 3:00 pm as the nation kicks off Jamhuri Day celebrations at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.
In a public notice, NPS said the disruptions are meant to ensure public safety and the smooth management of the fete.

The affected roads include: the Aerodrome/Wakiihuri Road, which will be closed, and the Nairobi Expressway will also be closed in both directions between the Capital Centre and Bunyala roundabout.
At the same time, motorists travelling on Langata Road will be diverted via the Madaraka Roundabout to the Lusaka Roundabout.
All vehicles on the Expressway from Westlands will use the Bunyala exit. Those using the Expressway will use the Mlolongo exit and Capital Centre exit.
"The National Police Service is working collaboratively with relevant agencies to ensure smooth traffic flow and a successful event. All motorists are urged to be patient, to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations, and to follow the guidance of officers stationed along the affected routes. Stern action will be taken against anyone found violating these regulations," the notice adds.
Nyayo Stadium marks a shift from the government's earlier announcement that the celebrations would take place at Talanta Sports City, which remains under construction.
In the run-up to the main event tomorrow, the Kenya Tourism, Wildlife, and MICE Week has been running from December 8, showcasing exhibitions, conservation installations, innovation expos, film screenings, gastronomy festivals, excursions, and awards across all 47 counties.
